This long weekend I was subjected to the worst possible traffic in a Mexican road: Any.
You see, in the highway everyone drives at their own pace... some Coca Cola trucks drive at the very dangerous speed of 25 miles per hour because Coca Cola overladens their trucks and this is a very hilly road, some people like the guy that crashed a Koeninsegg,
might drive at a much higher speed. I often drive at 60-75MPH.
So, “ghost traffic” is super common in this highway, whenever a Coca Cola truck is taking a blind corner in the rightmost lane and a passenger bus approaches it at twice the speed, the bus needs to brake, cut off any car in the middle lane, and overtake the Coke truck.
The cars the bus cut off go to the passing lane and
protest
the bus, which means everyone behind them has to slow down to a crawl.
This is very dangerous, but it means that everyone is constantly cutting everyone off, and then the people who were cut off get angry and tailgate those who cut them off.
It happened to me yesterday, when a Mitsubishi SUV was going so slow on the fast lane, that a gap opened up for me to enter. As I am a Devil’s Advocate I turned on my turn signal rather than simply darting into the space.
The Mitsubishi SUV
raced
to meet me because how dare anyone enter the fast lane
infront of
him. He then tried (and failed) to tailgate me. But the funny thing is.... By triggering that guy’s sense of self worth, I made the entire passing lane faster.
He never left it
, but at least he drove past the truck so people could overtake him on the middle lane.

I don’t believe there's a city in this earth with the amount of culinary variety Mexico City offers.

Yeh.
We’re super liberal and socialist until it comes to taxing soda and junk food

Cutting people off - I don't mind being cut off if the person is going significantly faster than the speed I want to be going. It's when someone cuts me off and then slows down so I have to apply brakes that I get pissed

That pisses me off too,
But cutting someone off, even if youre going faster, normally means they have to slow down... it must cause ghost traffic

I know the feeling.
Yeah, I got a kick out of the Pepsi cup.

I can normally wait until the absolute past second to brake, which means if someone cuts me off by swooping into a tiny gap and then speeds up I don’t have to slow down. The perks of having a 2000lb car with wide, s ticky tires and brakes designed for a V8 swap lol

So in other words, I need to get some carbon ceramics?
For the sake of reducing congestion of course

My wallet hurts just thinking about carbon ceramics

I have four pots right now and they keep the car in check, but they do get tired after a while (specially in hilly highways).
My wish
list of upgrades for the car is the following;
*18in wheels with higher profile tires
*A metallic wrap in Velvet Blue (a BMW colour I know)
*Maybe the pipes needs a straightenin’
*The Alcantara steering wheel they sell as an option.
*The Aluminium trim from the EU model.
*Maybe a set of G90 V8 brakes could help.

I had the MINI up to 95 this morning with a youngish woman tailgating me in her minivan. I usually don’t brake-check but instead slow down gradually when being tailgated in heavy traffic if I can’t move over (i.e. “I would go faster if I could”). I did give her a very mild brake check and she sure looked displeased!
